I've seen a few necks advertised as such over the years, and there's currently one on TradeMe. Whenever I've asked the seller how they came to be in possession of a brand new, unused Fender neck, it's always a variation of 'I bought it from someone else- I don't know how they got it.' Are these nearly always fake? To my knowledge, the only way anyone could get one of these is via a warranty claim- I would have thought this would have to be done through an official Fender dealer and the replacement done by a tech.
Does anyone have any further knowledge, or should I trust my bullshitometer?
Edit- I had no idea! https://shop.fender.com/en/intl/parts/e ... rts/necks/
Seems like a silly move by Fender- so many otherwise fake guitars must be floating around now!

Re: Brand new Fender replacement necks
Not sure if it is true now, but there used to be a cottage industry that would buy brand new USA Fenders -- usually the cheaper ones -- then take them to pieces and sell the parts. I guess the whole is less than the sum of its parts when it comes to Fenders???

Re: Brand new Fender replacement necks
the fender website usually sells mexican necks
and for similar money you can get a full custom Warmoth Neck which is fender licensed anyway (about $400-500 USD)

Re: Brand new Fender replacement necks
Stratosphereparts on ebay sells brand new necks. They buy the full guitars and part them out. That's one way to get them.
