New Bucket List Guitar Day!
I Bought the SG version of this New on a whim back in '06, never have had being a gibson guy (or a SG guy) before and damn!-one of the top 3 guitars ive owned in sound and playabilty.I had an idea of owning one of each from the series but slackness and prices scared me off.The explorer was the first discontinued so always attracted a higher price, just enough to put me off.The sg in comparison was the last so they were everywhere and can still be had for cheaps.I'd never seen one locally untill this popped up 5 years ago-but the dude was asking just a bit too much even if it was on par/cheaper than the overseas price.Fast forward to now and after listing it for 2900 i remembered i still had his email and after a little back and forward...boom!

Re: NBLGD
How many Peavey Rage amps do you actually own?
Swamp ash does not seem to find much favour for humbucker guitars, but really like that combination.

Interesting, I did not know that. Mahogany emphasises the mid-range, so it sort of makes sense: if you want to add more range you need a different wood.godgrinder wrote:It's quite often used in 7/8 string guitars. 6's not so much.olegmcnoleg wrote:Swamp ash does not seem to find much favour for humbucker guitars, but really like that combination.

Generally gibsons are best left unfloyded. although i did like the M3 when i've played them.

Re: NBLGD
Normally I hate Gibson when they do these themed guitars but that really works with that shape. Very cool.
Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...
