Feel like crying? Take a peek at this thread
my beloved firebird. Ex a couple of members here from memory.
Stupid ultimate support stand has a locking mechanism that's supposed to stop the legs from folding (can't use a normal stand cause of the shape).
Gig last night. Legs collapsed onstage, guitar came down.
Absolutely gutted, taking it to a tech in an hour or so to see what can be done.
My own stupid fault, stand felt weird and flimsy and not right at rehearsal last week and I was second guessing taking it, and went "nah it'll be fine"

That sucks, but from similar breaks I've seen online it should be repairable and the break will be barely noticeable.

Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...

That sucks! Thankfully it's mahogany and all the pieces are there. I think you'll be able to get that repaired stronger than if it wasn't broken. Still not cool though.

Ouch. very clean break though, you could DIY fix that with no problems. Or take it to a tech for an invisible repair.

Gutting. Feel for you. SG custom I had in the early 70's came off the stand with the same result, but as others have stated, could fix up as new.

I look sideways at the 335 and wonder when it’s gonna happen to that...I feel for you!

And, if forum logic is to be believed, it'll be stronger afterwards.

It's not a proper Gibson without the neck repair.......druz15 wrote:yep, not too bad apparently, should fix up and be good as new
Feel for you mate but at least there's lots of experience available to make it right.
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

My old Firebird! Wahhhh....sorry to hear man. But yes that will repair up nicely. Those laminated pieces provide a good mask for some splines!

Oh no! Sorry to see that.
They keep telling me tone is in the fingers, but I have yet to see a "look at my fingers" thread.
