How to store guitars long term (1 year+)

Thanks for the tips so far guys. My biggest concern is the humidity eating away the hardware of the guitar, particularly the Les Paul Custom with the gold hardware. I would be more concerned about sweat (or any other bodily fluids) tarnishing the hardware. Clean the hardware finish regularly if you are very acid

I had thought of that. My Gibson Les Paul Custom has some inside the case already but presumably they expire.. Do you think these would be just as effective as those fancy 'guitar humidity packs'?

I keep 3 gibsons, 1 taylor, 1 jackson at standard tuning tension in good cases in a wardrobe pushed up against a ranch slider on the north facing side of the house.

I wipe down the strings and metal surfaces with fast fret and an oily rag after use.

They're fine.

The squier and the aria are stored wherever I leave them and are rarely cleaned.

They're also fine.

Pack them in salt, like the Norwegians pack their cod, it preserves it very well apparently.
