1990 Strat value?

Post by rickenbackerkid »

Specifically, this one: https://www.trademe.co.nz/music-instrum ... 753241-001

I'm not a Strat fan personally, but I tried out a bunch of guitars and found that the Strat sound is going to work the best in both my bands. This one on TM looks cool and I'm thinking of chucking on a bid, but though I'd ask first - what is the going rate for an older USA Strat?

I paid 1400 for a 95? I’ve seen them go between 1-1.2 though

About 1100 if they're in good shape.

That bridge is far from original. I would be pretty wary of where the other parts came from.

My Strat is a 1990 and the saddles look pretty similar to this one. Bit ambitious with that pricing though... and who describes their strings in size rather than gauges ?!

The bridge looks like a Squier / import unit.
US strats did use a similar saddle not so long ago, but generally not chromed like those ones. It also has four extra screw holes in the trem plate which suggests it could have been converted to fit the two posts.

That alone wouldn't be a difficult fix, but for the price, you can do better.

That strat does seem overpriced. I sold a nice deluxe for less than 1400. Also my 89 Tele was well under that, also a nice guitar.
They keep telling me tone is in the fingers, but I have yet to see a "look at my fingers" thread.
