Mmm creamy ric ....

Post by StrummersOfThunder »

Finally got a chance to install these creamery vintage toaster style pickups in the 89 ric 330 that grant referetted (and re-glooped). This is by far the best playing ric Ive had my hands on. Now it has the toans to match.
I can see what the fuss is about (spendy fuss). The pickups nail the 60s jangle without beinbg brittle. Drives the amp well with a pleasing non glassy or ice picky break up. A lot of fun for Beatles, Petty, Byrds etc.

i enjoyed spreading my gloop on that guitar.

I really dig the sound of the toasters i the 381. Much bigger sounding that I had expected. I’ll check out the creamery replacements.

Strummers, what happened to the old pickups? Toasters or Hi-Gains?

Would be really interesting to see how the hi-gains sound in a different guitar - rick-ish tones on the cheap maybe?

Ricks seem to operate only as a ‘whole’.

to be honest, I think most guitars are like that. Like how if you lock off the bridge of a Strat, you get a much drier, less sprongy sound. Still, if I had a spare guitar, I'd be highly tempted to try Ric pickups just to see what happens.
