Independent music stores?
Hi everyone, this is my first time posting here so might as well introduce myself. I'm Jeff, guitar builder from Rotorua. If you have a look here https://www.facebook.com/hamuranaguitarworks/ you can see some of my work.
Anyways, I'm looking for a place to put some guitars on display, where people can try them out through quality gear. I was thinking an independent music shop in the Auckland area, but am open to all ideas. Any recommendations?
Thanks

I follow you on FB. Your work is impressive - well done.
I'm not sure about the shops - I note a lot of smaller hand crafted makers in the USA don;t work through shops - online only. The power of a big population base I guess.

Just checked out your facebook page, and by strange coincidence I have an independent music shop in my lounge! I'd be more than happy to help...
Seriously nice looking guitars there

Very impressive builds, love your Tele style guitars! Quite like your headstocks too, really unique. Welcome to the forum

Online only can be good once you have built up a reputation and a following. But since I am relatively new and unknown, I think it would be good to have a few guitars at different places for people to try. It could be a way to reach a larger group of people, and give them a chance to try for themselves. Hard to convince someone to buy an unknown instrument based off a few pictures alone.GrantB wrote:I follow you on FB. Your work is impressive - well done.

Re: Independent music stores?
Very nice work Jeff. I like the headstock with the deep recess exposing the E and A strings, and wonder if you calculated the force on the deepest part of the recess? Without having the measurements, I guess there is at least 3KG force sideways from the E and A strings in that location. I suppose the timber you chose can handle that?
When faced with quality, I recognise it every time.

Excellent work.
Great to see local builders with such talent.
Sometimes getting one into the hands of a “name” player be-it local or international can do wonders.

Ahem... on the headstock front, have you guys never seen a blackmachine before?
