Best lunchbox amp head? Anyone tried a PRS MT-15?
What lunchbox amp heads do you guys like?
I'm surprised there aren't more 2 channel ones with reverb available.
The Revv D20 looks real nice.

Re: Best lunchbox amp head? Anyone tried a PRS MT-15?
My stable was the the Mini Rec, which I owned about 4-5 years ago. Two channels with independant EQ, two gain modes and switchable wattage per channel, it was easily flexible enough to be used in both bands I was in at the time. Loud enuogh to be heard over most drummers, only really lacked that huge low-end thump you get with the 50-100 watters. Mostly used it in pushed and vintage modes and it was bloody awesome with my old thinline Tele. Ironicallly the best tones about it where the low to mid-gain tones versus the high-end stuff. Would own again.
Owneda few others - Jet City, Vox Night Train, Carvin V3m, Blackstar HT5, Tiny and Micro Terror. Of them all, the Tiny Terrror probably sounded the nicest to me for organic gain tones. Carvin had the most flexibility, being a 50w model with 3 channels, but the tones didn't blow me away. The others were pretty forgettable.

I actually really like my Egnater for the job it does as a power amp. Master volume would be nice though.
Those Victory countess amps look really good. It's Guthrie
Govans touring amp too, probably why I like it hehe. The RK50 is nice, but apparently you can't expect much in the way of clean headroom.
Ideal would be:
- Victory head sized
- Blackface clean channel
- Marshall-esque gain channel
- Master volume
- Effects loop
- Built in digital reverb
- Not ugly

Sounds like you are describing a Rivera clubster.
Epiphone Riviera P93 & EJ200CE, Hagstrom Viking Bass, Doubleneck bass/guitar.
Rivera Clubster 45, Carvin AG100D, Ashton BSK158.

Not tried the PRS but can recommend Victory. If your existing amp has a loop you can buy a Victory preamp as a stand alone unit and effectively have two amps in one.
I'm planning on keeping my Victory RK50. It does a great clean to dirty on just the guitar's volume knob. Doesn't need two channels. Plus it has reverb and trem.

Don't get the 2061x.
Sounds glorious when pushed, but really nasal clean tones and blows power transformers like cheap fireworks.

Closest I have had would be the Tamerlane that did the rounds on here. Really nice amp, can’t remember where it went after me.Olderama wrote:Blackstar?
The Matamp on TM at the moment gets my vote. Seriously cool

I'd like to try an RK50. The trem is something I could do without but reverb is nice.Molly wrote:Not tried the PRS but can recommend Victory. If your existing amp has a loop you can buy a Victory preamp as a stand alone unit and effectively have two amps in one.

I effectively already do run a modeller into my effects loop. It's glorious.
