A very unlikely NGD.

Apparently I wanted an Explorer. Who knew? I didn't, up until 2 days ago...

This is the Gibson "Golden Axe" Explorer, limited run signature guitar of Bill Kelliher from Mastodon.

You've heard of Silverburst, now check out Goldburst!

Aside from the unique finish, I also fell in love with the LP Standard-style appointments (binding, inlays etc) which you generally would only get on an Explorer if you went CS.

It's surprisingly light (think it's lighter than my R8), looks amazing and sounds fantastic (though the pickups are so hot, on my current amp/multifx settings there's no clean to speak of, but that's fixable later).

That looks awesome! Have you considered dropping the pickup height a little? Can give a bit more clean headroom. Certainly did on my LP.

And you’re cool enough to wear it too!

Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

super cool - I think it is the same/similar as one that was on trademe a few years ago. I missed the close of the auction, otherwise I probably would have bought it :-)

With your licks you can make a Hondo S type with Metallica written on it in Twink and uncut strings dangling over the headstock look cool! 8)
