NGD - Gibson ES-335

Post by vyfster »

New guitar arrived last night with my wife from South Africa. 2005 Gibson ES-335 Curly maple sunburst. Thin 60's neck, which I was worried about at first. My preference is the 50's fat neck. This neck, while slim, seems to be a "shallow D" profile. And I really like it. It's nice and comfortable. Acoustically sounds great and plugged in is better than my LP! I think the pickups must be slightly hotter than the LP.

Guitar has been setup superbly by the shop that I purchased the guitar from, with a very low action. I might take it up a bit because unfortunately, the neck has small frets. That is the only "problem" with this guitar - rather small frets!

Happy beautiful NGD!

Nice, I like it when the burst extends into the horns
When faced with quality, I recognise it every time.

Wow, that’s some top!

Gibson 60s necks feel pretty good to me also, despite me favouring larger profiles.

I wonder if it has BB’s in it?

That new (to me) LP is supposed to be a 50's neck but feels pretty much like the 60's neck on my old Classic... Another victim of Gibson QC

That 335 is perfect in almost every way, speed knobs, killer flame and burst!

If the case interior was cathouse pink that would seal it ;)
