Borrowing this guitar off my brother in law, I didn’t know much about this series. Seems as though it was made in the Peerless Korean factory prior to electronatic series being around.
Seems very well built to me, nice guitar with Dearmond pickups.
Anyone know much about these? It wasn’t a known model to me before I did a quick bit of research this arvo.
Gretsch Historic Series, G3110

I'd be inclined to ignore the name on the headstock and just look at it as a generic guitar. Because given its origins, it might appear under several brands.

Now this isn't a bad thing; the Koreans and Taiwanese can make some fine instruments and it should be judged on its merits. Just don't go thinking it's really a Gretsch.

I've had two Korean made PRS. I really rate them. But I've played quite a few 'real' PRS's and while probably much better value for money, mine both felt like excellent 'Inspired by" examples.

What I'm suggesting is that yours is an Asian 'Inspired by' instrument.

But that's really not a bad thing. :D

I should point out it’s not for sale, I’m just borrowing it so have no real skin in the game. I have found it an interesting guitar and not having any real prior knowledge of this model it’s surprised me. I’ve used enough real Gretschs too know when it’s a good one, recorded a couple of Live albums with White Falcons from different eras, 90s one and post Fender take over 2000s one as well. And I’ve played a few modern Electromatic ones too, although never owned or recorded with one. This definitely is somewhere in the middle, I’d say it feels closer to a proper one but without the frilly bits like gold sparkly binding etc. I’d be interested to know if other people have owned one of these models to see what they thought.
Sounds like he doesn’t need it back for a while so seems I can enjoy it with out any commitment.

Really cool!
I’m trying to do a demo for Glynns pickups. The black thing is an iPhone trick huh ?

It’s one key light pointed at me and setting the exposure so there’s virtually no ambient light in in the exposure. You might be able to do a similar thing on an iPhone but I haven’t tried. Think there are some cinematic settings in the latest iPhone?
