the florentine cutaway looks lethal like a commie sickle but I say scalding hot. what about you?

man, ESP has got the vintage burst down; looks as good as Tom Murphy's stuff

I did some work on a slightly metal version of that this week. Pretty nice guitar, but for the price I should think so.
Sounded really nice.

I say "comfortably warm".

I like the sound of Les Pauls but never been crazy about the look, they seem old fashioned to me. This updates it subtly and tastefully. Gets the thumbs up.

I say "Meh". I'm judging it only on looks since all I'm seeing is a picture. Not my thing really.

In that case I really like it. I like vintage colours and it reminds me of werthers candy and I love werthers candy. Plus the fingerboard inlays are pretty cool.

Which LTD model did you work on Ash? was it a deluxe series?

It's an ESP made in Japan (note the E S P insignia at the 12th fret, eclipse 2 model for the american market as it has only 3 knobs instead of the Gibson control layout and the non-les paul cutaway which ESP aren't allowed to sell in the U.S)

ESP are all Japanese now, Korea makes the 400/500/600 (artist) and 1000 (deluxe) series guitars and then below that there's China and Indonesia which take care of the 10/50/100/200/300 (on a side note: The '10' series are identical to the '50' models, only the '10's come in the starter packs and the '50's are usually available seperately

I'd take an Japanese ESP Eclipse 1 CTM - vintage over a les paul standard anyday of the week. You can get these new for under 2.5k if you know where to look. ESP resale value in NZ is a joke so if I see one cheap i'll nab it. Overall ESP pricing in NZ is decent IMHO compared to many other similar brands.

The ESP/LTD website uses photoshopped mockup pics  they do look better in person though!
