I have a shit load of work to do on an assignment due next week, so I'll have to skip it. BC said what I played earlier was ok, although I wasn't 100% happy with the tone or my playing. If somebody could tidy up the EQ on that clip of mine and splice it into the jam, that might work ok, I suppose.

As long as we are in no hurry ... I'd like to hear AR rip something out. I thought the clip he played was just fine.

Not convinced this is the best mixing job ever, AR, if you have a version with out fades, may be a bit easier to do, or even one without the backing track. Is there going to be anybody else have a crack at this? Heaps of people who could add something cool to it!

If there's no takers BG, should we end it after the current last one? (your thread, don't want to stand on toes, might smudge the tartan.)

well well - I just found out that the scale I used for most of the first half of my solo in this track (a scale I've used for lo these many years) actually has a name. Apparently it's the Algerian scale - who knew? ;)

1 2 b3 #4 5 b6 7 if you wanted to know. :P

hang about... how many notes does the pentatonic scale have???

I was planning on using combinations of the Algerian, as used by Tsuken, a bit of abu dhabian, a wee dask of celtic and finishing off with a major crescendo of chaos.

Or I could just feck around with it for awhile and see what comes up. Then double track it. Twice. At half speed, add a dash of reverb and extreme wah, and Robert is your fathers brother.

Recipe for te awesome metal solo:

1.Drink beer.
2.Repeat rule one until you find the courage!
3.Wear loin cloth (Do not try make one out of a lion!)
4.Tell yourself "If manowar can do it and be taken seriously so can you!"
5.Repeat rule 1.
6.Play anything at super fast speed which must consist of tapping, wailing high notes, low to high shred run, "riding across the sky triumphant on your fire steed" moment.
7.Do rule 6 many times so you can choose the least embarrassing take once rule 1 wears off.
8.Pretend you werent hurt when your friends tell you it was crap
