Hamilton Gearfest II - July 11th

At the first few gearfests I used to take along some gear to do string changes and minor setup work, but other than one emergency repair, no one was interested. That one repair was an absolute nightmare to do without a proper workspace.

As always, if anyone has something they want me to take a look at during a gearfest, they need only ask. I can bring a few tools if neccesary, but full setups require a proper work space. If my PM inbox is flooded with requests I'll make suitable arrangements.

What tools would you need that wasn't in your car's toolkit? A set of Allen keys, 2 screwdrivers and an FBH, surely?

Ner the new Mesa Boogie MK5, pretty cool promo vids on it. I have a DC10, Im starting to wonder if I might like it better if I switch the 6l6's to EL34s, there is supposed to be a mod to do it. I was wanting a Stiletto cause my mates had el34's and ended up getting the Rivera which I think is awesome, but I wonder if its mostly to do with the El34's.

Hey Swoop, this is a gearfest. If you want a local for fixing your guitars go see Keith MacMillan:
doing set-ups or repairing amps and pedals takes away from valuable guitar/amp/guitar/pedal/guitar/talking/guitar/eating/guitar playing time.

I'm sure there will be experts in various fields there. If you want Ash to set-up your guitar at his workshop, fire him a PM.

Gee, sorry. I was just reading on another forum about a recent guitar event in the US where the Gibson techs were doing setups on any guitar, which was well received by players, and I thought it might be a cool idea that would benefit a lot of people.

All good. I wasn't meaning to sound harsh. Keith has done some great set-ups on my guitars recently and I'd rather hear Ash playing guitar than watch him fixing them.

That's easy Rog - file the frets down until they are square on top and difficult to play, add in some binding rot and away we go!
