Re: Christchurch Gearfest 21st Nov, Media Club!
Maybe.
Nah, Dad was/is a vicar and so he was always the guy at the front of the church and on my wedding day, I didn't want him to be there as anything other than my Dad. Plus I didn't want a big church wedding, I wanted something low key and uniquely us. So we got married at Willowbank, a local wildlife small format zoo, with about 30 friends and a marriage celebrant. Steph got dropped off by my best mate from high school who had a Chevy Corvette Ford Holden Mustang Commodre Something-or-other ... and she walked through the park gates and into the throng of friends. She actually couldn't see me at first, and was wondering whether I had shown up. The park was open to the public so when we were doing photos people came up and congratulated us ... it was cool. We had a BBQ for lunch (put on by the restaurant at the park). And it was no ties allowed, so the men weren't allowed ties or jackets. The only ones dressed for a wedding ... were Steph and I.
And of course I had a best (wo)man ... just to be different ... but different is good and it was memorable and I think everyone liked the step away from tradition.
{cheeky}
If you give me enough warning - I might be able to get Zakk to play at your civil union. He might not be Randy - but he'd be pretty cool.

Re: Christchurch Gearfest 21st Nov, Media Club!
ok so fate plays a hand again.
I did not book myself as unavailable on the 21st and my band accepted a gig.
2 other potential key holder people have indicated similar conflicts.
My mums 89th birthday dinner is on the night of the 28th
so....I am asking permision to shift the date to the 28th. This means (a) I can come (b) I can deal with the venue personally and (c) I will be in ChCh for mums party.
If there is overwhelmimg outrage all I need to to set up an appropriate key holder...

I don't think that'll be too much of a prob.
I'd rather have you there, personally.

righto, reading the banner
means 28 Nov is confirmed.
I'm at two different work sites that day but will stop by hopefully with a Bass for some playing.
do we have a drummer booked in?

Same here - double booked
All of my gear will be set up at the venue by then. Might see if I have time to poke my head in and perve at everybody else's gear but that's unlikely.
