The Official NZG Setlist
Here's an idea I've pondered occasionally for a few years...
A list of five or so songs to jam at any NZG gathering.
There's always a bit of jamming going on at Gearfests and the like and it's usually a shambles apart from the inevitable 'Blues in A/E/D/X' which sometimes breaks into a coherent musical flow for a while.
How about we collectively choose some well known and diverse songs that lots of people like and know. When the opportunity arises, they'll be a great starting point for noise-making and hopefully music-making.
I propose:
12-bar Blues in whatever key is most suitable
A classic rock song (say Led Zep, Cream etc)
A metal song (Metallica, etc)
A modern rock song (something from the last 10 years, 15 years perhaps)
etc etc...
Or maybe one from each decade of electric guitar history... whatever works.
They need to be well known, well loved, easy enough to learn, easy to play, easy for a part-time drummer to play or work with no drummer at all...
Let the cat-herding begin!

Re: The Official NZG Setlist
going by the Wellies gearfests, there would have to be a Hillsong in there
Hurdy Gurdy.... some how... and I'm not entirely certain how mind you, an instrument that sounds like someone has shoved a nest of angry hornets into a goose with a kazoo bill and is randomly slapping the poor creature with an accordion.... Sounds amazing.

Smoke, Stairway, and April Sun
That'd actually suit me down to the ground ...
But I'll not be there (unless we organise one for when I'm over in February, at which I could christen my Zakk guitar ... ), so I could also suggest something like Layla
How about some Jovi? Living on a Prayer, or Dead or Alive.
Some Van Halen? Hot for Teacher maybe
Some ZZ Top? Old: Blue Jean Blues, La Grange, Waitin' for the Bus/Jesus Just Left Chicago, Tush (please please please with the riff played correctly through the verses though ), Cheap Sunglasses ... New: Legs, Sharp Dressed Man ...
Some instrumental pieces could be a good buzz too: Samba Pa Ti, Always With Me Always With You ... anything with a section that could just be extended for many people to take turns with ... Jessica?

Gentlemen, just a reminder of one of the house rules at the Manor. No Floyd, No Straits, No Nickelback.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Oh and while it's not against the rules, there is a $5 surcharge per rendition of 'Little Wing'.
