Would getting the jamming warmed up with a few backing or jam tracks not be a good way to get real jammin' happening after?
What you said happen last time with plum sounds better though.
Oh fuck knows. I can't jam for shit. I hate jamming.

Wow, I had forgotten about that. Just spent 20mins listening to his solos.Jenesis wrote:Good luck with the solo...rocklander wrote:superstitious
I'd been fine with the Superstitious solo up until the hard bits.

Re: The Official NZG Setlist
Ok, lets change the process. Nominate one song from each of the last six decades as recommended jamming tunes. Seed-songs, if you will.
If you suggest something that you have to explain, demonstrate or provide links for, you're doing it wrong.
If the song needs vocals or an amazing drummer to work, you're doing it wrong.
Here's your template:
'00s
'90s
'80s
'70s
'60s
'50s
(not including the ubiquitous blues jam)
(I know this will probably end in absolutely nothing, but it doesn't cost us anything to try )

Re: The Official NZG Setlist
OK then, I'll start:
'00s Dunno. I don't really listen to anything particularly jammable from the last ten years.
'90s Enter sandman or Sad but true
'80s Walk this way
'70s Crossroads or The lemon song (both just blues jams at heart)
'60s All along the watchtower
'50s Johnny be good
These are not suggestions for "best song of said decade" but are fairly easy to jam along to.

'70s Black Night
'60s Sunshine of your love
'50s Jailhouse rock
btw Bender, I like your choices too, all good.

I don't know Black Night but the rest of those are good choices. I think Killing in the name of is better than the Meatlicker I suggested. I'm going to amend mine to:
'00s Seven nation army
'90s Killing in the name of
'80s Walk this way
'70s Crossroads or The lemon song (both just blues jams at heart)
'60s Sunshine of your love
'50s Johnny be good

Re: The Official NZG Setlist
Setlist looks good ... if it were in ChCh I'd be down with all except for SNA ... can't stand that song and I would have to walk outside while it was played.
I remember when the ChCh Rockshop had a staff jam night year ago ... it was a blast
-Wildflower - The Cult
-Steal My Kisses - Ben Harpur
-Le Freak - Some old fuddy duddies
-Come Down - Bush
-Machine Head - Bush
-Keep Em Separated - The OffSpring
-Hotel California - The Eagles
-Wonderful Tonight - Eric Clapton
-Never Again - Nickelback
-Pacifier - Pacifier
-Johnny B Goode - Chuck Berry
-Another Brick In The Wall - Pink Floyd
-Everlong - Foo Fighters
-Whats This Life For - Creed
-Creep - Radiohead
-Moon Dance - Van Morrison
-Rebel Yell - Billy Idol
- ... 3 or 4 15min jams on various progressions. The whole lot took about 4hrs.
{rant}
TAB sites annoy me when they just copy TABS and post them. Found the TAB to Superstitious and looking through it, there's at least one clearly wrong note and no-one has fixed it when I bet hundreds or thousands of people have found it to be wrong.

Re: The Official NZG Setlist
You may have earned a permanent ban from The Manor with that list, Dave
Here's another set of potentials:
'00s Strokes - Last Night
'90s Weezer - Buddy Holly
'80s AC/DC - Back in Black
'70s Zep - Rock ' Roll
'60s Kinks - You really got me
'50s Fuller - I fought the law
But I think these previously mentioned ones might be better:
'00s Seven nation army
'90s Killing in the name of
'80s Wildflower
'70s Walk this way
'60s Sunshine of your love
'50s Johnny B Goode
