Great photos chaps. Looks like quite a day. I had a family gathering in which my attendance was not optional otherwise I would have been there with bells on....that's right, just bells.

Glad someone got pics of Single Coil's gear, that blue AC30 would be nice enough to put in my living room. He's another young guy with real talent, like Zaulkin/Nik.

There used to be heaps of girls at the manor gearfests. But they invariably cowered behind me in the kitchen or ran away when NZG guitar geeks tried to interact with them.

I can try bringing a few girls to the next one, but you'd all have to promise not to talk to them.

It doesn't look like anyone got photos of Bobiron's setup, unfortunately. There is a picture of the man himself though, getting up close and personal with Katy Perry - caressing her neck, pressing her curvaceous body tightly to his, making sweet music together...

Yes indeed! Really enjoyed his playing... and nearly stole the ac30 from the back of his car myself.

I dunno, Kristie used to be pretty good at holding her ground at the manor ones. She just walked around with a look on her face that said "I know I'm wearing impossibly tight jeans, but if you check out my arse I'll tear your f**king head off". We knew not to mess with her.
The older I get, the more disappointed in myself I become.

Capt, are you suggesting we can only look at them? Sounds interesting...I've heard of such scenarios elsewhere.

I agree that the Yamaha SA1000 was very nice. I'd love to own one just like it some day, usually I just dont gel with hollowbody guitars.

This SA1000 was the first old Yammy I've played since I was a kid. It's lovely. In fact it was the biggest surprise and pretty much my favourite guitar on the day. everything about it just felt right.
that was my favourite guitar too. I will have to get a vintage Yamaha at some point. everything about it was perfect`

Thanks guys, I am glad I brought it along. It is actually a semi hollow with a full length centre block... just like the 335.

I had hoped that Sam would be there as I understand he has an SA2000 which was Yamaha's flagship at the time. I believe the only differences are gold hardware and slightly different pickups.

Maybe next time.

how much does an SA1000 go for, if you don't mind me asking?

Don't mind at all....

This year so far three SA1000 were sold on ebay (USA) - all prices exclude shipping:
August: USD910
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dl ... true&rt=nc

July: USD 945
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dl ... true&rt=nc

April: USD 685
http://www.ebay.com/itm/YAMAHA-SA-1000- ... 20c50088f1

All three were not as nice as mine if you can believe the pics. I paid ~USD1100 but then you have to add the shipping - anything from USD110 to USD 180.
Then you have to add GST for the amount declared. So if you are an honest person (and we all are for insurance purposes) then add another 200 -300 dollars NZ.

So all up, for a nice one, expect something between NZD 1500 - 2000 landed in NZ. Not cheap but a hell of lot cheaper than a Gibson. And you don't have to worry about fakes!!!!!
When faced with quality, I recognise it every time.
