The word 'Amplify' means 'To increase, to make louder or to add to...'. It does not mean 'To reduce, to make quieter or to subtract from...'
Please bear this in mind when approaching a Gearfest venue.
There has never been a gearfest venue that was not loud. If there was, it would be called Youtube.
At the last one I arrived with some Meshuggah blasting on the car stereo, to get me in the mood, as it were... when I got back in the car after packing up, I remember thinking "hmmm, I'm sure I left the stereo cranked, why has it gone quiet?"

Then I remembered I'd spent the last couple of hours turning my ears down.
The older I get, the more disappointed in myself I become.

I'm still planning on whinging about it being too loud and then standing outside. I only show up for the sausages (sausage fest?) anyway.

I reckon the last one was pretty civilised compared to the old 20 guitars jamming in one room gearfests at Clockwork, but not as civilised as the last one at the Tron.

The gear Opsguy and Unique brought made it a jizzbomb
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

I think I can make it! Putting it in the calendar, unless I still have the flu (I have the flu) or work commitments throw themselves my way then I'll be there :D

THIS SATURDAY FOLKS

Directions to the venue,

Easiest plan is to take the Nth Western motorway to the Lincoln Rd Turn off and simply travel all the way to the end of Lincoln Rd until you reach the intersection where it meets Great North Road (to the left) and Swanson Rd (to the right).

Map link: http://maps.google.co.nz/maps?client=sa ... CHkQ_BIwAA

Cross the intersection into Mt Lebanon Ln then follow the lane to the entrance of the Estate grounds then take the road to the left (see diagram) until you reach the Cellar.

Image

There's good parking around the Cellar entrance but the Cellar room itself is down a flight of stairs so if you wish, you can continue around to the lower grounds at the back of the main homestead/gallery building. There is a whole lot more parking around there and you'll see, as marked on the map, a sign to the toilets. Just near the toilets is a doorway which leads to the theatre space.
I suggest parking and coming in to scope the space out and decide which way you'd like to bring your gear in before loading it in.

If you're unsure or lost, give me a text on 021 567 063.

The whole estate is a pretty cool area. The gallery is good and the buildings are pretty historic. If it's a nice day, the grounds are good for a walk around if you need a break.

We will do the usual sausage sizzle and soft drinks. There is a full kitchen in the Cellar so I may just cook stuff in there if there's no suitable place to put a BBQ. If you check out the pics here - http://www.ceac.org.nz/venue_hire.aspx - there's a long bar and counter which gives us plenty of space for drinks and nibbles.
Feel free to bring a few beers or what have you. If you want to chip in and bring nibbles, that would be great too.

The usual collection box will be there for y'all to make a contribution to costs for the day. Please bring a bit of cash for donations, refreshments and ear plugs.

Cheers.

Good god man, is there conceivably a situation where someone could post the word "tele" without you swooping in? WE KNOW, YOU LIKE TELES. Seriously, I've seen bots on Twitter less dedicated than you. :P

Shut up Daza. It's taken years for the telecaster to become an acceptable possession. You're single handedly reigniting tele-hating every time you mention them.
