As per usual I was pleased to hear other people playing through the gear I brought, its hard to get the same effect when you're stood in front of an amp. Both the 5E3 and the little 10 watt head through the quad sounded pretty awesome. Hard to keep the 5E3 clean funnily enough
So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.

Re: Auckland Fest Saturday 25th July 2015 - LOCK AND LOAD
It was a fun afternoon, if slightly fatiguing due to the loudness wars.
I really liked: (of the gear that I hadn't previously played)
- Nik's latest Ash Custom.
- Grant's matchstick SG into Ben's Reverberocket. Awesome guitar and awesome amp.
- Grant's JMI AC30. So many magic. Much wow. Killed the Morgan AC20 by a country mile.
- BG's new JS1200. Buttery smooth goodness.
Dog's Bollix was a really cool venue actually, and beer on tap is always good. However, it was an enclosed brick structure so everything was loud as fuuuuudge. I think for the next one we should look at a place with multiple rooms, like the Ham/Wellyfests of yore. At least we have a few years to plan for it!

Audio Foundation fits the bill. They even have lots of wacky DIY effects people can check out on the spot or borrow:slash-ed wrote:I think for the next one we should look at a place with multiple rooms, like the Ham/Wellyfests of yore

However it's a sub-basement so people would have to lug their stuff down the stairs...

Re: Auckland Fest Saturday 25th July 2015 - LOCK AND LOAD
yeah I know that multi rooms are handy but the main attraction of the bollix was that it was free. It wasn't really because I spent a shitload on beer. But I could have chosen not too....
Other places we've made a big loss on, because of hireage fees and relying on people to turn up, so yeah free is best
Though I probably lost more yesterday on beer hikeage fees (pub prices v byo prices) so perhaps I should just expect to lose out
I'm thinking next time that the little local hall is a good move, but again it will be one big room, so yeah... we lost a luxury when blacko shut the manor doors!

Fair enough, petrol's expensive.Bg wrote:nah actual spca due to them inheriting a fresh 180 cars recently...
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.
