Re: 1962 SG Special
Not sure where to begin on this.
First up, Adrian has done a magnificent job. Everything exceeds my expectations - especially the fingerboard, binding and fret work. The finish is great, and yellower than these shots indicate.
The pickups have been raised about as high as they can go exposing the base plate - this is normal for old P90's...the sweet spot is with the pole pieces close to the strings, however originally this was not intended. The pickups were often 1cm or more away from the strings!
The guitar plays superbly and sounds like a cross between an LP Special and a hot Telecaster. Twangy and biting, but with some fatness. Very different to say my '56 LP, and the late 60's SG.
I know the job was a bit of a biatch at times for Adrian but really, when you see this thing in the flesh it's quite breath taking.
Well done, Sir.

On the headstock...one forgets how small the 50's and early 60's Gibson headstocks were. In my view that era presented the most attractive size and shape...even compared to the modern reissues.

Yeah, it's super thick...but warping due to age. One has to be very delicate with how the screws are aligned...Benrocky wrote:Mmm im loving that pickguard.

Amazing! I'd been wondering what the finished product would look like for a while now and these pictures do not disappoint!

Nice pics, Unique!
It came out purty. It's almost a shame to think that it will get munged up and relic'ed over the coming decades.

Re: 1962 SG Special
Seriously, that is easily the sexiest SG I've ever seen. I got to lay my hands on it while it was still naked in Ash's workshop and was floored by how resonant it is all over. Just stunning

Mean! I especially like the pic of the frets/binding. Beautiful work there.

Conclusive proof of the reality of Reincarnation.

Unique and Ash; you have done a Beautiful Thing.
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.
