Even if I could afford it, and it is a bit too steep as jvpp says, I'd hang for one with the original pickups. Either that or spend months trawling ebay for originals. They just go so well with the guitar, I'd be surprised if anything else could be as versatile.jimi wrote:who is going to jump on this one: http://www.trademe.co.nz/music-instrume ... 568298.htm ?
neither of you have a Yamaha with an EMG set yet... so bidding war?

Re: The Group Shot - Yamaha!
on the topic of pickups I was at ASH's workshop a few weeks back and noticed a bag on a shelf with my name on it. Had the original Pickups from my SA50 in it which he'd put aside after making it some new ones.
So these have these sitting on my desk at the moment. No idea how they sound - the guitar was in pieces when I got it.

Hey Jimi, I can see the dust from the work shop on it... Right? So these have these sitting on my desk at the moment. No idea how they sound - the guitar was in pieces when I got it.
Could you please measure them and tell me their Kilo-Ohm values?
(I could be interested in them: started building my own Yahama.... .)
Cheers
Sean

I'd be a starter too, if you're keen to be rid of 'em. I love those things.jimi wrote:on the topic of pickups I was at ASH's workshop a few weeks back and noticed a bag on a shelf with my name on it. Had the original Pickups from my SA50 in it which he'd put aside after making it some new ones.

Re: The Group Shot - Yamaha!
I remember you put the photos up for the SA30 pickups. I seem to recall they were low output, that's why you got Ash pickups right?. My SA30 pickups measure 8KOhm and 8.46KOhm - very respectable. What do your old SA50 pickups measure?think I've got a couple of sets floating around
