Shame about the big piece of mahogany that fell off the body

This must be one of the first with the multi piece necks but solid bodies. No volute as stated.

Love the Mojo but the price is unappealing.
Very unappealing.
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

I'd love that... same year I was made :)
Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...

A volute is a subtly indent carved in the back of the body to accommodate the groinal region. After a good deal of pressure Gibson eventually acknowledged that most rock guitarists played their les Paul at the correct height.

I thought the volute is the the raised bit at the end of the neck at the base of the headstock. Like a stop or guide for your hand. Could be wrong tho..

It is, but it's purpose is to strengthen that known break point. Many makers use the concept.

A bit of both and a few other things, really. It's a vestigal remnant from the days of gut stringed guitars when the headstock was glued on with a fancy tapered joint behind the nut and/or veneers both sides. Martin still simulate the shape of this joint just to look cool and others retained it to make a nice transition when using a veneer on the back of the headstock. With the advent of truss rods, which take important meat out of that critical area someone realised that the volute might be of use to put some strength back. /csb

In other news, I hate when people write "listed elsewhere, I reserve the right wank wank etc". You sign away any such rights when you join TM!

fixed, and I agree, a wedding pre-nup clause should not be used in TM auctions.
