Martin OM-45 Deluxe, oh my... only 14 vintage ones ever made right?

That Stromberg is also neat, the vendor has some cool stuff but I've heard his prices are going to be sky high and unrealistic.

Arousing. Yeah, the Stromberg and the Super 400 caught my eye. Love big old jazz things.

That was the first thing that caught my eye too. I don't normally think this way but right now, wish I was a Billionaire.

This looks like a substantial part of the acoustic section of Scott Chinery's collection.
Ironic and a bit sad really; a man spends four decades assembling the largest and most comprehensive collection of American guitars on the planet. And in the space of months, it scatters to the four winds again.

Excuse me while I crawl under a blanket and contemplate the futility of human endeavour.
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

I believe a lot of pieces won't reach reserve price, and this auction is probably an exhaustive exercise in proving how superior the vendor is to others who have similar collections.

I've been reading the 'With strings attached' Book detailing the collection of Jonanthan Kellerman and his collection features a harem of vintage Martin '45' style guitars in every body shape (1-45, 0-45, 00-45, 000-45, OM-45, D-45). His OM-45 is a 1930 or '32 but it's not a deluxe. His strombergs (multiple!) are nicer than the one on offer here too. Not sure if he has any ex-Scott Chinery guitars or not.

Add to this Robs comments...yes, it all seems a little overwhelming, possibly saddening.

These collections are important...splitting them up is an issue whilst it provides others a chance to own individual items. I'm conflicted.

If splitting it up means it gets played more than once in a blue moon then I can see it as a good thing. Would love to know more about how original that OM-45 Deluxe is...

I should mention the OM-45 in the Kellerman colelction has a replacement bridge which makes it look like an OM-45 deluxe.... but it's 'just' an OM-45.

Bets on final price for the Deluxe?

I say $2.3M USD

If it is in 100% original condition with no repairs then the sky is the limit! Or you could get TJ Thompson to build you a spectacular reproduction for $30k USD and up (and a 5+ year wait time)

I think I'll watch from the sidelines on that one.
