It was literally Under the Bed!
Slowy, " I'm curious about that case poking out under the bed, may I?"
Client, " Oh, my old guitar; haven't opened that for about 20 years."
Neck's straight, no cracks, everything's covered in gunk, strings would slice your fingers.
So what's it worth should I not be able to stop myself making an offer?

Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

So Slowy is in the client's bedroom? So what is it you do for a living Slowy, or shouldn't I ask?
No idea about your guitar question though

Re: It was literally Under the Bed!
I've wondered about the value of these as well, my uncle has one that is in the same condition, also under a bed, which he bought new in the 60's.
The older I get, the more disappointed in myself I become.

Same guy? Next time you see your uncle he might tell you how he got a bargain offer for that old guitar...$200!Danger Mouse wrote:I've wondered about the value of these as well, my uncle has one that is in the same condition, also under a bed, which he bought new in the 60's.
They keep telling me tone is in the fingers, but I have yet to see a "look at my fingers" thread.

I remember when..... no binding 360 went for about 900
the six string double binding 360 now that's something to get excited about.
probably more than 900

There are still some that think the neck PU is moved to accommodate the extra frets which only proves they cannot detect the difference in length of each.

No idea about your guitar question though
I'm a builder and his bedroom windows were seriously relic'd.

No idea. Strings were razor sharp and probably brittle as well.AiRdAd wrote:There are a couple of guys that are into Rikki's here. they will know

Re: It was literally Under the Bed!
He's in the UK, so not the same guy. I've tried to get my hands on it before, but my uncle is one of those "yeah but I might need it one day" types. Also has a large collection of bits of wood he might need one day to stir some paint.Slowy wrote:Interesting point. DM, where's your uncle?Delayman wrote:Same guy? Re: It was literally Under the Bed!
Speaking of hidden gems, I used to teach guitar and would zig zag all over town covering lessons at students' own homes. Got to one house and the guy took out his guitar. It was a pre-CBS Strat he'd had from new. He could barely play it. Last time he fitted strings he used the entire length so there were these huge clumps of string on each tuner. I asked him if he'd consider selling it and he said something about maybe swapping it for a VW Beetle. He knew it must be worth something, I didn't have that sort of money, and it didn't have a pointy headstock so wasn't 'that' good anyway...

Mild hoarding tendencies are fine, when you store plastic containers of food under your house for the new owners (i.e. me) to find about 5 years later, then you have a problem. Coleslaw is not something that ages particularly well.Bg wrote:Theres a problem with that?Danger Mouse wrote:Also has a large collection of bits of wood he might need one day to stir some paint.
