Amber tinted clear coat already taken some of the pink to a red. I'll hit the right tone and then go 100% clear.

Looks really nice! The only colours I like on a Strat are Fiesta Red, Sonic Blue, and Inca Silver.

Where did you acquire the tinted clear coat?

Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

Have you tried leaving clear in the sun for a while to yellow naturally before spraying?GrantB wrote:I brew my own - Mirotone nitro and stewmac tints/stains.Dharmajester wrote:Where did you acquire the tinted clear coat?

I think the next time you plan some spraying, give us some notice and we'll send our bodies up to be done

I'm time poor - the effect is exactly the same...in fact, I can tweak it quite precisely to get the best effect depending on the woods original colour.Lostininverness wrote:Have you tried leaving clear in the sun for a while to yellow naturally before spraying?GrantB wrote:I brew my own - Mirotone nitro and stewmac tints/stains.Dharmajester wrote:Where did you acquire the tinted clear coat?

Your too kind Bruce - but when the corporate world has done with me I may just consider opening a Loofiah and barber shop combo.Slowy wrote:You're wasted as a senior executive. Hmm... I hope you don't mind my saying but that needs a bit of flatting-out of the orange peel so it'll buff up nicely.GrantB wrote:UPPPDATEEE
A large pencil rubber with a strip of very fine wet and dry (soaked overnight). Bit of soap in the water to lube it. Then relax into a mellow head-space as you flat it by ear; listening to the tone change as the nibs and peel fade away. Very Zen, man... ;-)rubber

Thanks for the Zen tip! Headphones, music, red wine is my special wet sanding space.Molly wrote:Hmm... I hope you don't mind my saying but that needs a bit of flatting-out of the orange peel so it'll buff up nicely.GrantB wrote:UPPPDATEEE

Ah yes, this is only a "colour match" photo....it actually needs another 6 coats of clear before hanging it to cure, and then wet sanding etc. I needed to check colour to see if I should go another round of tint. The answer is still no. All good so far.
