NGD 1968 ES335
Pretty happy with my new squeeze, super light, plays great, and has great tones in all pickup positions. As you can see from the case this guitar has been well used and toured with all over the world. Special thanks to Rob for helping me get the deal over the line by buying my old semi, which I'm going to miss dearly especially the wide neck, perfect size frets and Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard.

Nice - was this the one on TM?
I’m not sure if you’re aware but that case would not have been sold with the guitar. Brown cases stopped in the early 60’s. If this is an old Lifton or similar, jackpot! That side could be fixed up too.
That sunburst is very 59/60. Great score!
PS - I forget how big 335’s are until I throw one around my neck. Significant!

Yes it was on trade me, apparently the guy picked it up many years back while on tour with his band in Canada. I’m definitely going to try and get the case cleaned up, even though I mainly use double gigbags these days.GrantB wrote: ↑Mon Jul 20, 2020 8:18 pm Nice - was this the one on TM?

Nice...it’s very clean! Doesn’t look like he gigged it much!

I think he just looked after it really well, it’s definitely been played a lot, the binding on the neck is naturally rolled like I’ve never seen before (I have a 1963 Southern Jumbo that’s well played for comparison) and back of the neck is naturally pretty worn and the frets are pretty low although it still plays great.

Re: NGD 1968 ES335
I noticed a wider variation in 335’s than other guitar models and was quite shocked by how many of the new customshop models sounded in ways that didn’t suit my tastes, case in point that beautiful cherry 335 with Bigsby out at rockshop Westgate. A lot of the new gibson acoustics are the same, so many of them leave me flat, but every now and then you find a really good one. Having said that it’s all subjective and we all have personal preferences.
As for vintage guitars I’ve definitely drank the kool aid, something in the sound that is more together, warm and cohesive like comparing a full range speaker to a 3 way speaker that has a badly designed crossover, although it’s subtle I can’t notice the difference much once it’s recorded with a band.

Didn't spin your wheels either huh?
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

I think the guys at the shop almost felt embarrassed to hand it to me, and made sure I tried a killer Gretsch straight afterwards to clean the bad taste out of my mouth
