Did anyone see this? Some impressive prices. That MK Suhr on Tm might be a steal after the original sold for a million bucks (Kiwi)
Click on a guitar then 'lot essay' on the left for the full story.

Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

Yeah I watched it on Youtube. There were some interesting pre-auction video's with Mark too. I learn't that on Money For Nothing he used a re-issue LP and he got his '59 later.

Re: The Knopfler Auction
Incredible. Some fantastic guitars on off. But from the prices, two different people paid over 100,000 quid for an Ovation he owned. Just wow!

Those LPs must be pretty high on the list of most expensive guitars of all time.
It's the amps that sizzled my bacon. Concert, Vibrolux, Vibroverb, JTM45....

Re: The Knopfler Auction
The 1985 Les Paul going for almost as much as the 1959 one surprised me.
Was it BG who grabbed the Steinberger?
The Southern Jumbo looks almost exactly like the one I had when I was 16 that I bought saving up my 1980s building site money. It was mid '50s too.

The '83? That's the guitar he used to record Money for Nothing which probably cranks up the value a whole lot.Aquila Rossa wrote: ↑Thu Feb 22, 2024 3:08 pm The 1985 Les Paul going for almost as much as the 1959 one surprised me.
