How easy is it to swap parts?

Post by Voxshall »

I'm thinking of taking two nkt275's out of my old beano boost and installing them into the fuzz card on my captain coconut 2. I'm confident with a soldering iron but have no experience with pedals. Is this easy or is there a good youtube resource for potential pitfalls etc?

Assuming that both circuits use the same type of transistors, i.e. NPN on both or PNP on both then apart from biasing it should be an easy solder job. Pin outputs can be different across different package types of transistors too.

So yeah, easy to swap.

Beano only has one Transistor as it’s a Rangemaster.

Biasing a fuzz face can be a bitch

Sorry for the late reply, I needed to wait to get pictures because I know nothing I want to take this....

and match it with this.... Standard Germanium from foxrox hybrid card

and wondering what's involved in biasing

So is this worth exploring, should I get a pro to do it for me or should I just solder her in there or should I leave well alone?
