Yeah I like it. There's a lack of colour in the pedal world. I like a bit of garishness every now and then.

That looks good and stands out really well compared to most others on the market. Why not call it "Is Fuzz your Cup of Tea".

It's a medium gain drive, voiced a bit fatter than a TS. Not a lot of compression going on as the diodes have a pretty high clipping threshold so you get a lot of transparency and openness before any clipping occurs. Couple that with a 4 band EQ and you can do a whole lot.
This sounds killer, when you releasing it :mental:
The one I made up for myself looks like this:

I like yellow. I like cups of tea.
I'll grab this if you want to do a mk2 prototype.

Aside from fitting in additional controls on the limited real estate, how hard would it be to make one or two of the bands sweepable?

Theoretically not amazingly difficult, but would probably have to go smd for the internal real estate. If you want sweepable then you could just get an MT2.

But then I’d need to own an MT2.

How can you play in a surf band and not own an MT-2?

I did the diezel mod to the MT-2 I had and it sounded great!

If you change the clipping diodes to red LEDs you get a much nicer sounding distortion.

That was my only experience with a Metal Zone in fact. Performing the Diezel mod after replacing the broken volume pot.

So I ended up buying this, and first impressions are awesome.

I only had fifteen minutes to plug it in before the baby took over the guitar sauna. Have only really tried it as a coloured boost pedal so far, gain hasn't gone past 8 o'clock. Four band EQ is incredibly useful compared to the two band of my TC Spark. Quickly managed to dial in tones to beef up my Strat or add a little sparkle to the 335.

Even with the gain wound right back, it seems to add a touch of clipping. Haven't tested how much drive it can add as you wind it up.

Next goal is to see how it performs as a boost going into a RAT-style distortion. Hoping that the four EQ options give a lot of possible flavours.

When I lose the kids for a couple of hours I'll record this and Reg's latest pedal (overdrive and treble booster combo!)
