Double Hotcake; anyone got one I can look at?
I've asked him twice about buying one but he didn't respond. Why be discreet? Isn't it better that I'm being overt about what I'd like to know and what I'm going to do with it? To be very honest, I'd like to build one so I know whether it's what I want to use on bass. I'm happy to shell out if it does what I want because I'm a wanker who likes people to think I'm awesome because of my gear. I want a double hotcake because the bass player in Jakob uses one and I want to be cool like him when I grow up.
Like all pedals the guts don't matter as much the box. No one pays for the sound as much as they pay for mojo and authenticity.

He hit a chord that rocked the spinet and disappeared into the infinite ...

Right now? No, I've lost all my bargaining chips with the Mrs and have to sell a bit to get the cash together at the moment, but if I'm able to hit you up to hit him up in a month or so that would be cool.

Nope, that's what I was wondering... They work best with an amp that already sounds slightly 'gritty' like a Vox or Marshall right? My amp is more in the Fender territory. I'm kinda looking for a smooth drive pedal so I'll try Jen's fuzz first (ib;jb).Vorbis wrote:Suits AC30's, got one?Zaulkin wrote:Hotcake... Forgot about those. Must try one.

Hotcake into my Marshall is heaven, but into the bellbird (6V6) its a bit average.Zaulkin wrote: Nope, that's what I was wondering... I have used one on bass before, but that was before I had a decent amp. Cranked ampeg needs no dirt pedals.

Re: Double Hotcake; anyone got one I can look at?
this, gain at midway with my marshall is absolutely gorgeous, but with my dual showman (6L6 I believe) it needs to be at least past 3 o clock to get any useable sounds out of it, where those settings with a voxy/marshally amp would be a muddy mess usuallyjimi wrote:

True to my word, I have got the good Mr Crowther himself to rustle me up a double that's a bit tweaked for bass. We'll see how it goes, hopefully it kicks ass for both bass and guitar.TmcB wrote:Oh all right you cheeky salespeople, I'll be all legit and shit about things.
