Double Hotcake; anyone got one I can look at?

Post by TmcB »

Hey folks,

I'm going to build a double hotcake but I want to figure out how the switching works when both are engaged.
If any one has one that I can look at to see how it works, I'd appreciate it.
Even photos of the guts would be awesome.

Mi side very slow
offset by the proaudio side booming we sold 9 digital GLD Allen& Heath desks last week plus two Allen & Heath Ilives

cant remember the last guitar amp I sold
In the meantime Egnater have a new pedal which I dont have yet which combines a distortion and an overdrive sep swithable plus you can pick which way round ie distortion into overdrive or vice versa and there is a loop inbetween plus a bunch of other controlls and a battery warning light ( about time ) should have them end of April http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZC3rTU6CMLY

Good to hear Si!
It's always interesting with DIY stuff. In order to learn, you do need to copy. I'm really interested in how he's done his switching because it's clever. I don't sell pedals either so it's for my own enjoyment/benefit.

I've bought at least 4 off him personally so I trump you!

Also shows how I should just keep one instead of selling the damn things.

I reckon if you email Paul he'll tell you anything you want to know. He is a really cool guy and not commercially minded/IP focussed at all. No one is going to take away that he is the man behind the hotcake so I doubt he'd be the least bit concerned with you building a clone to your own taste - he'd probably like it!

This is true

This is not.

You'll notice the "goop" inside a HotCake protecting Paul's aforementioned IP. I've also had some discussions with him in the past, with him expressing his disappointment at other pedal manufacturers who have ripped off his work.

Yeah he goops hotcakes. I've ungooped mine but still can't figure the damn thing out as half the values have been rubbed off. There are schems online but I wanted to build one to the same specs as mine but with a built in prunes and custard too.

This is all the information you need, to know why it's frowned upon by those of us who've known Paul for many years, to openly copy his work. Learn to be discreet. Or just buy one. ;)
