pedal builder pedal builder build me a pedal...
howdy all
would any of you crazy-genius electro gurus out there be keen to take on the challenge of making me a "wah" pedal with a twist in a small enclosure (pref in the smallest enclosre possible)
all it needs to have is an on/off footswitch, be true bypass and have "speed" and "sweep" control knobs on it.
i would like the speed control to adjust the speed at which the pedal "cycles" through the range....i.e. when you rock your foot back and forth on a normal wah pedal you can move as fast or as slow as you want, id like to replicate that movment with a knob (ib;jb)
i would like the sweep control to adjust the useable "range" of the pedal. some wah pedals have a wide sweep starting from very low and going very high. i would like a broad range "sweep" to be available but i would like to have some control over where the "sweep" starts and finishes
basically id like the same controls that you find on your normal phaser pedals, but with the tonality and sound of a wah pedal, in as small a box as possible
hope that makes sense!! if anyone is keen to have a crack i have a budget of $120 for such an invention
cheers

no an autowah, is an envelope filter, the "wah" is triggered by the input signal. this is more an automatic foot on a standard wah, more like the wah setting on the worm. I have never heard the worm, but opinions seem to be that the wah is a bit subtle.
kloppster does someone already build one that you know of? most envelope filters are going to set you back at least $120 in parts. wahs are a bit simpler, i'm sure something could be hobbled together. hmmmm. i'll look into it

hmm, yes not unlike the EHX Worm, albeit with one focus only and more adjustability and the specific "speed" and "sweep" parameters. I suppose a EHX Worm could get me pretty close....Scooter13 wrote:Like an EHX worm?

cheers mate, i have done a search and cant find anyone making that specific thing, most people are making auto-wahs and other envelope filter pedals but nothing for my specific needs. i was thinking, i wouldnt have the technical know how but if one could fit the guts of a stock dunlop wah into a small enclosure and replace the foot pedal with a "speed" and "sweep" knob (or at the very least just the speed knob) i think that would get me what i need appreciate you having a look at it!Snarblinge wrote:kloppster does someone already build one that you know of? most envelope filters are going to set you back at least $120 in parts. wahs are a bit simpler, i'm sure something could be hobbled together. hmmmm. i'll look into it

I keep picturing a normal Wah pedal with a little electric motor stuck on the side with a shaft going through to move the pedal gear up and down.
That we be so cool.

With funky big reduction gears and a steam maker from an electric train set!
Can someone build me one of these please?!

haha nice....kinda like a steampunk vibe? that would be choice! make the enclosure out of perspex so you can see all the action!Capt. Black wrote:With funky big reduction gears and a steam maker from an electric train set!

squirrel, ferret or hamster ftw!Scooter13 wrote:Or use a squirrel on a tread-wheel to do the motor work instead of electrics.

Re: pedal builder pedal builder build me a pedal...
hey dude, nah i havent. tbh im kinda hoping more of a hobbyist guy wants to have a crack cause they usually do these sorts of projects for fun, charging for parts and a small token for their time, whereas guys like McPherson do this as a business so they add on their mark-up to have the McPherson brand name attached to the pedal, which im not really interested in. im looking to do this on the cheap so to speak cause its the kind of thing i would use only every so often and i can get close to it already with my M9 and other pedals but this is just a single box solution for one particular effect that i find fun to use cheers for the suggestion though!higainer wrote:Have you tried shooting an email to Waylon McPherson?
