Help with an AB+Y switching box please

Post by mr_sooty »

OK, I'm sure I have the ability to build this myself, but the hard part is finding the enclosure, pre-drilled.

I want an ABY switch with the following features:

2 inputs, one output.
Ability to have both inputs or either or.
LEDs.

Main thing is, it need to be as small as possible to fit into an already crammed pedal board. It need to be the same kind of shape as the EXH switchblade....that is....wide, not tall....like an MXR on it's side. It needs to have both inputs on the right hand side (where the top would be if it as MXR orientation), and the output on the left side (bottom). Then I need two foot switches side by side. It doesnt really need an AC input, just a battery clip, as the battery will only be running the LEDs.

I can build one if someone can get me an MXR or smaller enclosure with two holes for input jacks at one end and one hole at the other, plus holes for foot switches, or alternatively if someone can build me one or point me in the direction of an existing product I will buy one. Just want to be able to switch between the wet and dry signals of my C9 pedal with both signals going to one amp.

Cheers.

Honestly, buy a EHX Switchblade+ it's exactly what you want, as theres probably $60-70 worth of parts in building one :(

Not sure if the C9 flips phase, but if it does, the Y setting could sound bad/phasey.

looks like the switchblade does nothing, there are just switches in there and lights. if you are thinking of buying one, i could price you a kit from my collection of stock, aside from the enclosure I have all of that on hand if you want to diy one. I can even drill it for you. I have no time to build for a while, but can pop a few holes in something and bag stuff up for you.

if it were me i'd want transformer separation and phase inverting, but then things are getting a little tight in one of those enclosures. if you use Y and would happily use a Y cable, then WTF go hard
b.

Only problem with the switchblade plus is that the jacks are on the top, which I'm going to struggle to make fit on my board.

The B9 doesn't, I run it in Y a lot, I'd be very surprised if the c9 differed.

They keep telling me tone is in the fingers, but I have yet to see a "look at my fingers" thread.

Thanks. Read some info on it. Why would it need a battery?

That one in the link doesn't require battery, the "plus" model looks like it has one just for the LEDs.
