Silverpistol Effects Tony - TmcB helped out troubleshooting - stupid Jaycar 2.1mm jack shorts out on metal enclosures. Insulation tape to the rescue!

Yeah the jaycar a 2.1 is only any good for reverse polarity, you need the off centre plastic one or a tiny lumberg from Rs or mouser or banzai or https://www.banzaimusic.com/Lumberg-PSU-1614-09.html
