Pedal problem: Brainstorm requested.
Finally had a look today at why my PB sucks so much volume. Turned out my Flashback and Blue Sky are fine individually, but plug the Flashback into the B.S. and 90% of my volume vanishes.
In the spirit of enquiry, I reversed the order. Normal volume.
Switched them back: Normal volume.
Now it's not simply a loose connection because I've pulling the leads all afternoon to no avail until I switched the order and back again
And now the volume has dropped off again.......
Any insights?

Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

What kind of patch leads are they? Any chance that the black plasticy conductive layer inside could occasionally be causing trouble? Had that happen once which confused the hell out of me.
Dodgy lug on one of the jacks of either pedal?

Played with the flashbacks dip switches at all?

Whenever that has happened to me it's almost always cable issues.

@ Zaulkin: Brand new Sommer Spirit cable with Switchcraft plugs. Sockets seem OK.
@Lyle: Don't know. How do I find out?
@JB: Don't they offer bypass or buffered? Think it's set to bypass. Will check.
@ Conway: See reply to Zaulkin.

Check the earlier cables in the chain. A heavy stomp might cause a short in the one into the Flasback or even further back,.

Yeahnah. Have swapped old and new around. No difference.Conway wrote:Check the earlier cables in the chain. A heavy stomp might cause a short in the one into the Flasback or even further back,.

What about the switch contacts, I have been having issues with some of my older pedals needing some switch love. Like you I replaced cables, but when I started switching the problem came and went.
