Adaptor

Post by werdna »

Seeking expert advice please.

My rack effects unit power input has 9v 1.5 amps printed on it.

The phantom power input on my rack preamp feeds a midi controller that has 9v 0.8 amps printed on it.

I have an power adaptor which I hope will provide enough current to power these two things at the same time which has 9v 2.0 amps printed on it.

Will my adaptor be providing enough amps to power both the rack effects unit and the midi controller?

Sorry for such a boring post on Saturday night.

I’m guna go with a dubious “no, pick something a bit bigger”.
1.5 + 0.8 = 2.3 amps (2300mA)

I overloaded my pedalboard adapter once. It was rated at 1700mA. Somehow I was drawing more current and the delay got really pissy about it.

What's the issue with the current set up?

I'm setting up the Syn2. Unlike the RM4, the phantom power pins 6 and 7 in the cable that goes to the midi controller are not powered by the RM4, and require separate power supply.

The RM4 is older but is the more impressive piece of hardware with better features and capacity.

Oh of course! are swapping out the RM4 or adding the Syn2 to the rig? You could find one of these to start with:

*Here's another one:

Do you have room at the back of the rack for a multi-board?

Thanks. I've got it sorted. I found a spare 9v 800ma adaptor. Got the channel changing going well.

Won't be using my RM4 when I use my Syn2.
