Bought this cheap Klon Klone, but it seems to have too much bass compared to what I remember Klones should have. (Bought it S/H)
Has anyone worked on one of these and can give me advise on which cap to change to reduce the bass a bit? I assume the input 0.1uf could be changed if I could figure out which one it is.
Looks like one of those generic AliExpress Klones but has the potential to be a really good Klone I reckon. The sound is almost there, just needs some fine tuning.

Klons are buffered bypass (i.e. arent true bypass) so reducing the input cap will reduce your pass-though bass too.
The circuit also has the parallel dirt and clean circuits with the blend control, so you could cut bass from the dirt section, clean section, or both...

Re: Anyone modded a Klon Klone?
Yeah I figured there would be a few ways to go about it, the tone control is fairly muddy all the way up to about 3/4. From my previous Klones this doesn’t seem right?Optical wrote:Klons are buffered bypass (i.e. arent true bypass) so reducing the input cap will reduce your pass-though bass too.

It could even be more the low mids than bass muffle the sound?
Any suggestions looking st the board where to start?
I can find a wiring diagram for this particular model, not even sure what brand it is tbh.

Re: Anyone modded a Klon Klone?
indeed, Cap values should help, at least they are labled on your board. though they may have used different ones to the schematic. hope you have a good solder sucker

Re: Anyone modded a Klon Klone?
I can see the caps in your circuit are all correct values and in the correct place. Except the green mylar which i cant see, that should be a 3n9
I'd go through the resistors to make sure the right values have been used
