I've been digging around figuring out how to link a PA bass cabinet to an upper mid/treble cab, both 8 ohm load so looks like I'll end up with 4 ohm. Just a crossover away from success I guess, hoping if I open up the bass cabs I have they may already have a low pass filter.

Anyway I came across this useful article which could apply to many guitar cabinet themes. Answering the kind of questions regarding impedance that crop up around here from time to time.
