Re: Frankenamp
Yeah back to the lead side last night, I see what you mean. At about 2 all you get is the edge, dial it up to 'bout 6 and in comes the blade and hilt. Not horrendously louder neither.

Re: Frankenamp
No, shouldn't be much louder. Labelling the controls "Volume" on non-master-volume amps really is a bit of a misnomer in present-day context - in terms of their function in the circuit, those controls are gain controls.

I removed the engine last night, drawing closer to going in for the master volume mod. What a fine looking thing it is...

I'll second that. Totally impressed with the work of all involved.calling card wrote:I removed the engine last night, drawing closer to going in for the master volume mod. What a fine looking thing it is...
I daydream about making something like this but that's probably as far as it'll get (I used so much solder on one volume pot the other week I managed to weld it open).
Very cool anyway. Some soundbites would be nice.

Re: Frankenamp
Thanks, yeah I daydreamed it into existence, I'd forgotten what was hidden in that combo, must carry it out into the sunlight for better photo op. Wondering about boring a hole in the middle of the ventilation louvre (cement a washer either side) for the master pot. See what the boss says I guess.
Certainly got to be brave to crank it up enough to capture the magic for any kind of recording.
In my mind this is the auto version...

Re: Frankenamp
Not gut shot in here, I noticed - so here's a wee one:
Essentially the stock '68 circuit, with a couple of my own tweaks to layout, grounding scheme etc.
Eno/calling card made my life a lot easier by making it so that I had drill/ream/punch/deburr almost zero holes in the chassis (only small holes dictated by my custom layout).
Everyone should experience an NMV 50w at some point - I'd liken it to a good medium rare Scotch Fillet - charred on the outside, a bit bloody on the inside, and the right kind of greasy.
