Fender 6g15 reverb unit build
So in my eternal quest for reverb I was afforded a stand alone reverb unit of sorts , el84 driven, by a friendly forumite. It was unfortunately plagued by hum, odd layout and funky grounding. But ,a lot of the parts were very useful in creating a fender 6g15 unit.
The following thread as an abridged detail of some arduous ground loop busting building....

1. The pine cabinet
Originally I built this to house the hummy el84 unit. Later I would have to chop shop it to fit a full sized tank. Poor planning.

2. The chassis and magnetics
I used $30 a Hammond aluminium chassis from RS components. Had to drill all the holes etc obviously.
The power trannie came from Australia and the others were quite cheap and shipped free from mouser.

Re: Fender 6g15 reverb unit build
I used a schematic from ted webers adverb but borrowed the control layout from tube amp doctors version.
The grounding I owe a debt of gratitude to tube swell for. I used respective cathode nodes to ground the power sections and pre amp separately with an individual return to a ground lift network.
Resulted in a super quiet operation with almost no hum.

For space sake I mounted the filter caps on the back and bought through two power wires, one for the 6v6 section and one for the board.
The remainder of the board populated with salvaged parts and new

This shot shows the ground lift network with two anti parallel high amp diodes and a power resistor and 100nfcap.

Nice black Rolex and amp handle combo from Ryan...thank you . Also got cool grill cloth off cut from him.
Decided to try some old school rub on lettering.

Re: Fender 6g15 reverb unit build
Sounds just as it should. Massive splashy drippy rich surfalicous reverb.
Spent a lot of time thinking carefully about grounding, as this is essentially a high voltage effects unit..probe to ground loops once plugged into another high voltage chassis.
The article by Merlin aka the valve wizard is great.
As with all projects, you Learn a heap from doing them. That's one of the great things about a build I reckon.
