Adding a cooling fan. Ever done it?
Thinking of adding a cooling fan to my Boogie F-50. Just wondering where I'd take the feed from? Guessed the light would be about 12v and that that might be the go. On the other hand, I might electrocute myself....

Use a multimeter.
Work it out that way.
My concern would be electronic noise from the motor of the fan.
I tried this with LED's inside my amp and it buzzed something horrible.
The emf from the LED strip was yuck

the pilot light will be around about 6v. Just get a 240vac cooling fan and wire it from where the power lead goes....
So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.

Re: Adding a cooling fan. Ever done it?
Too much time on Boogie forums looking at hot screen resistors that've unsoldered themselves... Probably completely unnecessary (I'm like a hypochondriac browsing a medical tome) but all the newer Boogies I've had have been fitted with fans so, y'know, I want one...sirvill wrote:How does one decide that a cooling fan is needed for one's amp?

Practice your chops, you'll get fans...Molly wrote:Too much time on Boogie forums looking at hot screen resistors that've unsoldered themselves... Bah Id added a photo of the infamous Nick Jonas lead solo but it's too large and I can't be bothered resizing from my phone.

Re: Adding a cooling fan. Ever done it?
Boogie fans are above the chassis and cool the tubes, unlikely to help with any hot resistors inside the chassis. The screen resistors are only likely to be damaged if a power tube shorts and fan won't help with that either. I wouldn't bother to be honest.
Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...

I did something similar in my cabaret days. Huge bum note at the crescendo of the solo in 'Body Rock'. Just about took everybody's eye out.
