Nicely figured hardwood?

Post by Bg »

Wheres the best place to source? I'm thinking of making a nice hardwood combo shell for the mk1 boogie, dovetails etc.

But as I've only ever used recycled stuff in the past I don't know where to source or even what the price would be.

Anyone help? :)
So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.

Timspec, South Pacific Timber, Pride Mahogany... depends what you want in terms of species as different places stock different types. Timspec have a lot of variety but their prices are among the highest, South Pacific are awesome guys who will do anything to find you the right piece but they pretty much only sell vitex, kwila, padauk, and pine. Pride mahogany, well they only sell mahogany but it's fine stuff. I'm building a 1x12 from their product.

not entirely sure myself yet, I may end up going pine/tweed again, though a decent hardwood wood would, (yeah, triple wood), be fitting :)

take a drive to matamata and see this guy http://www.trademe.co.nz/Members/Listin ... er=2594827

He has some really interesting native wood. Should be able to find something "pretty"...prices are good to, I got enough blackwood for 3 guitars for $30

I just purchased a couple bits of Kauri for a guitar top from this chap. Awesome and straight up to deal with. Knew what I was doing with it and found some gorgeous pieces.

Awesome guy, awesome deal, will shop again etc etc
