Speaker combining: Can this be done easily?
I have an amp with 8 and 16 ohm outs.
I have a Celestion Blue and G12H, each in its own cab. Both are 16 ohm.
I'm thinking of a 1 input, 2 output box, plugged into the 8 ohm speaker out that effectively creates a 2x12.
Can anybody picture how to wire that up?

Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

I am interested in this thread.
I want to know how I'd wire up two 16 ohm 1x12 cabs so that there is an input jack and an output jack to 'link' them up.

Most Mesa cabs have a parallel out, which is what you (or Slowy) want with an 8 ohm output on the amp.Zaulkin wrote:I am interested in this thread.

Like this? (T n R stands for TIP and Ring on the quarter inch plugs)Slowy wrote:I have an amp with 8 and 16 ohm outs.

This would put the two 16 ohm speakers in parallel giving you 8 ohms
Btw, excuse my shitty hand sketch..
No one ever died of hard work.. but why take the risk..

Re: Speaker combining: Can this be done easily?
heres a simple video on how to wire 2 jacks in parallel
then to do the third jack (input) you just wire the positive from one of the output jacks to the positive of the input jack and the negative from the output to the negative of the input jack
which creates this
JUST MAKE SURE YOU USE A PLASTIC BOX NOT METAL ...you will get grounding issues with metal

Use Chur's drawing. Do you have a soldering iron?
When faced with quality, I recognise it every time.

Easy to knock up a Parallel box. I'm an electrical ( among many other things ) dunce but easily knocked out a series box. Grab a plastic enclosure and some jack sockets from Jaycar, 5 min google, 10 min drill fit and solder, good to go..
