Ok. Good idea. A bit of a practice run. You'd be really happy with the way it turned out.willow13 wrote:no that finish has now been sanded off to finish the carving of the top...hopefully will get some done on the weekendAiRdAd wrote:That looks insane willow! So just a test finish then right? Will you use it for the final finish?no that finish has now been sanded off to finish the carving of the top...
When faced with quality, I recognise it every time.

I am starting to think no. The more I look at it the more it looks like a fake paint flame thing....jvpp wrote:So just a test finish then right? Will you use it for the final finish?no that finish has now been sanded off to finish the carving of the top...
I have finished carve, now I am applying the soak coats to pop the grain so currently it looks like this (it is a bit more purple than the photo makes it look)
then will sand, do a darker coat in the centre, sand then rout pick ups etc and then decide what the final top colour will be
If Less is More Then Just Think How Much More More would be

AGree, with such a nice flame I personally prefer the natural finish, perhaps a light honeyburst....am starting to think no. The more I look at it the more it looks like a fake paint flame thing....
I must have missed the previous bits, but what is it going to be?

Re: Projects in the pipeline thread!
Made some good progress assembling the Tele tonight. Neck is on, pickguard, bridge and control plate fitted and aligned nicely. Bridge will come off again tomorrow to be filed to work with the Bigsby. Then it's just Bigsby and strap buttons to fit, and I have a functioning guitar barring pickups.
The plan is to make sure everything is working and set up properly before I go ahead and order them.
No pics from me. Maybe a fence shot tomorrow when it's all together.

Re: Projects in the pipeline thread!
Got the Bigsby fitted today and had my first experience of what an annoyance they are to string.
Need some grooved saddles as the strings don't like to stay lined up properly on these smooth steel ones.
Here's a pic:

I definitely notice a sound difference with the Bigsby, and it'll be interesting to hear how that translates when amplified.
