It really is amazing, been watching it over at the tele forum. Kinda wasteful of timber, but a bazillion points for style and lateral thinking!

Yep, I saw that as well. Amazing skills. Fuck sawing those huge slabs of wood by hand though. Cool videos and music too.

so cooool
Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...

Welcome!
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

Thanks for all the kind comments. Just about finished now. Just have to make some pickups and knobs and wire her up. I hope to get it complete by Saturday but we shall see.
Glad to get it to this stage mostly unscathed, actually to be honest.. relieved as hell!! A few nervous cuts in the process, a little bit too many 'seat of your pants' moments for my liking, but got there in the end. I got a little bummed about getting into the motley layer of Paua on a few inlays (actually contemplated replacing them), however I'm getting to really like the effect of them now. Little hiccups can turn out to be cool things. A little worried about how she will go once its strung up, I have had some real bad resonance problems on a couple of 1-piece builds in the past but I have a feeling this one will be sweet. When they go well, they really go well (fingers and toes crossed!)
Thanks for checking out the build vids and thanks again to Jeremyb for hooking me up to the site (really scratching my head as how I haven't managed to stumbled upon this site earlier). Its great to see so many kiwi guitar building nuts out there. Love the fact that we have such an amazing resource of recycled native timbers. This guitar is in fact my first guitar using anything other than New Zealand woods.
Anyways here is a progress update - a vid showing some slides of where I'm at. The 3rd construction video isn't too far away.
Cheers
