Re: Number One (in progress)
Great work JVPP! The only thing that lets it down for me is the bolt-on neck. That being said, I completely understand the decision to do so. I love the floorboard look, love the double binding, love the choice of pickups, love the shape, love the finish. Can't wait to hear it!

Rhett - more laughs than a box of Christmas crackers.
And just as predictable.

You just wait. Next gearfest and my tone will melt your face.
And my playing will melt your ears.
...BTW, cool guitar, OP!

Re: Number One (in progress)
It will take me forever to do a proper recording so here an ever so quick and dirty video clip....by BG » Sat Dec 15, 2012 9:12 pm
Now that looks damn hot . Idbe happy if that was in my rack, but how does it sound?
So here you have a couple of poor sound/video clips that hopefully give you a little bit of an idea how it sounds and plays.
It was recorded with a $118 camera sitting about 2m away from my Laney Cub12R. Settings on the amp unchanged for the duration of the recordings.
The Dimarzio mini humbuckers are marvellous - thanks to Ash and Unique for recommending them. Both pickups in their own position have a totally different sound and combined also sound great. The Yamaha blender pot is a nice feature too but not shown.
Somehow I must have wired the single coil mode switches wrong as I don't hear any difference when switching to single coil. I am not looking forward to pulling it all out and checking it.
First clip shows the different sounds possible with pick up selector. Second clip switches the neck pickup from parallel to series. Probably too poor a recording to hear it.
Thanks to my BiL for playing.

When faced with quality, I recognise it every time.
