Basic concept is a Les Paul Special I can drop. Inspired by playing a custom shop tele jr way back in the day. Most of the hardware came from Ishibashi on my first Tokyo trip. Gibson P90s, chosen because I liked them in my old LPjr and they were available on the day.
Final steps for this will be swapping in a korina/rosewood gibson scale neck from Adrian and putting on a black Cabronita style pick guard. I should probably try and give it a more robust finish at some point, but I do like raw korina.
It's going so well I'm tempted to build a humbucker version.
That is lovely! I often dream of adding a P90 and Humbucker Korinacaster to my current one. Just daydreams at the moment though.
Can you get this in Hanoi? Korina marks easily so a sealing coat at least might be a good idea.

Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

I had Adrian spray it with a sealer coat already, so I was thinking more a clear gloss finish.
BTW I'm in Saudi Arabia now.

Sacrilege. Looks great. Tele JR black guard would look cool too though.

Two Rewarewa necks and one Rimu
I got hot and needed something coolish...
Holy crap, you're taking guitar building back to the rudimentary level! Whats next, chopping down trees with stone adzes?! Loving your work, very cool.
About one hour later... two Totara planks and once piece to be sawed on the next fine day

Chopping trees with chain saw, don't worry. Re the Totara post, I am a sucker for old timber, especially as this one came from the old farm. Emotional value and stuff like that, I know
Then again, why not use something different and be surprised (or disappointed).
I like my guitars to have a story attached to them, so you can still talk about it if it turns out crap
When faced with quality, I recognise it every time.

I took some pictures of this old thing for a couple of chaps who enquired about it on Youtube. It fits with the theme of this thread, as I would like to complete it this year... only ten years after starting it! The posts where it first appeared here have long slipped into the server abyss!
If anyone's keen to commission this one to completion (which doesn't simply mean a lowball offer and a box of Tui), PM me for more info.
Hollow kauri body, kahikatea top, tawa/narra/jarrah neck. 25-28" scale, best for E-F# tuning. Pickups to be would to suit the commissioner's desires.

It's the level of masochism that amazes me...
In the name of all that's sane and holy, man; haven't you heard of a Rip Saw?!!!!
