the pretty superstrat

Post by willow13 »

Thought it was about time I took some photo's of this. Got the body off olegmcnoleg AGES ago.

body is warmoth swamp ash w maple cap. Pick ups are tone zone in bridge and to no brand singles (that sound bloody good......think perfect for widdly widdly stuff). Not 100% sold on a clear guard yet (it is totally messing with my OCD being able to see the routing, but at a small distance away its not so bad), but I can't see any other way of seeing the nice flame under the guard without doing a weird shaped coloured one. Still waiting for the screws for the guard obviously

I made the neck ages ago as well, has the mandatory scalloping ... shut and put the pic's up already

I REALLY like that Dave. I think the clear guard looks great. I'd leave it like it is. If you want to be ocd, you could paint all the routes black or something?

Oh.... And happy birthday!

oh thanks Danny, feeling old

it is growing on me as it is. I've had it together for about 3 weeks. The swamp ash/tone zone sound so great together. the thing is so light as well, takes a bit of getting use to after playing weighty guitars for ever

That is fantastic, well done that man. The maple neck is a perfect match to that body. And I think the clear pickguard works really well, it shows off the top better, though I'd black out the part that actually covers up the cavity, as suggested by others.

Warmoth normally do careful and neat routing. Yet the humbucker rout is rough as guts. Maybe they gave the job to a trainee with parkinsons?

It's pretty super, that Strat. Put a piece of printed material; cloth or paper under the clear guard. Then it can be anything you want.
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

That is the first swimming pool I like. Go with a mat black pickguard I'd say.

Did you scallop after putting the frets in?

Oh, and I wouldn't call it pretty, call it handsome
When faced with quality, I recognise it every time.
