Can anyone recommend a good wood stain?

Post by Hollowpoint »

Most of the brands I've seen mentioned on different forums don't seem to be available here. Can anyone recommend a good local brand/supplier?
I'm looking for a dark mahogany or ebony I think.

Thanks!

Briwax spirit dyes are really good, and available at Bunnings :)

Good luck with the ebony stain. If you do find a good one, please let me know. I've tried several and they all end to come up slightly green looking.
Ummm....

I would go for leather dye if I was doing black/ebony, you can water it down so you can apply lighter coats......you get it from saddleries

briwax will also do custom colours

Beetroot stains wood really well, it fucked up our old kitchen top very quickly.
Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...
